The last meeting between these two sides was less than four months ago which ended 4-0 in favour of Napoli, thanks to Victor Osimhen’s hat-trick and one goal from Kvaratskhelia.
Napoli will be aiming to extend their winning run to seven games in the Serie A when they travel to Stadio Citta del Tricolore to take on Sassuolo on Friday night. The visitors are heading into the match on the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Cremonese last Sunday, while Sassuolo played out a 1-1 draw away to Udinese on the same day. The victory helped Napoli to move to 59 points from 22 games, at the top of the table, 15 points clear of the chasing pack. The hosts, meanwhile, are languishing at the 15th position, with just 24 points to their name, seven above the relegation zone.

Napoli are right on track to lift their first Scudetto title in more than 30 years. Lucianno Spalletti’s side have recorded 19 wins, two draws and one defeat from 22 league-outings this term. The Blues’ lone defeat came against second-placed Inter Milan (1-0) in their first top flight match after the World Cup break. Since then, Partenopei have won six consecutive games, scoring an impressive 17 goals and conceding just two during that period. Last time out, Napoli thrashed rock-bottom side Cremonese 3-0, courtesy of goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Victor Osimhen and Elif Elmas.

Sassuolo, on the other hand, twice came from behind to earn a point against Udinese, thanks to a sixth-minute effort from Matheus Henrique and Nehuen Perez’s own goal on the stroke of half-time. The result helped the Watermelon Peel to extend their unbeaten run to four games in the top flight, and that includes wins over Champions League qualification contenders Atalanta (1-0) and AC Milan (5-2). Sassuolo has registered six wins and as many draws from their 22 Serie A games this season.
