Europa Conference League finalists Fiorentina will be looking to end their Serie A campaign on a high when they travel to Stadio Citta del Tricolore on Friday night to take on Sassuolo. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw away to rock bottom side Sampdoria last weekend, while Viola got the better of AS Roma 2-1. As of now, The Watermelon Peel are occupying 13th spot in the Italian top flight standings, having collected 45 points from 37 games, while the visitors are sitting at the ninth position, with 53 points to their name.

Sassuolo shared the spoils against Sampdoria last time out despite taking the lead twice through Domenico Berardi and Matheus Henrique. The result extended their winless run to five games, losing three times in the period. The Watermelon Peel have recorded 12 league-wins this term and their last success came against Empoli (2-1) towards the end of April thanks to Berardi’s late double. Meanwhile, Sassuolo have lost only one of their last seven games at Stadio Citta del Tricolore, while recording four home-wins in the process.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, are preparing to take on West Ham United in the Europa Conference League showdown in Prague on June 7. Vincenzo Iatliano’s side are trailing the top seven by six points and with only one top flight match remaining they will not be qualifying for Europe via the Serie A. However, Viola would qualify for the group stage of next season’s Europa League if they beat West Ham in next week’s final. Meanwhile, when it comes to the Serie A, the Purples got the better of Europa League runner-ups AS Roma last weekend courtesy of two late goals from Luka Jovic and Jonathan Ikone. It was their 14th top flight victory of the season.
Sassuolo probable starting lineup: Consigli, Zortea, Erlic, Ferrari, Rogerio, Obiang, Harroui, Henrique, Berardi, Pinamonti, Ceide
Fiorentina probable starting lineup: Cerofolini, Dodo, Martinez, Igor, Biraghi, Duncan, Mandragora, Ikone, Barak, Saponara, Jovic
