Sao Paulo will host Juventude in a Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A fixture at Cícero Pompeu de Toledo on Monday. The hosts are heading into the tie on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Palmeiras in their Copa de Brasil round of 16 fixture three days ago, while Juventude were defeated 3-1 by Atletico Goianiense in their previous league match last Sunday. Meanwhile the Tricolor Paulista are unbeaten in each of their last five games against the visitors and will hope to keep the juggernaut rolling.

Sao Paulo’s last league match was against Palmieras on June 20. The Tricolor Paulista suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against the visitors. Sao Paulo took the lead through Patrick inside the opening 17 minutes and looked set to earn three points, but right at the end of regulation time Gustavo Gomez netted the equaliser for Palmeiras. And then, six minutes into the injury time, Murilo Cerqueira scored the winner to complete a remarkable come-back win by the Palmeiras. Rogerio Ceni’s side quickly brushed aside the disappointment of the defeat and edged past the same opponents, three days later, in the Copa de Brasil fixture. Once again, it was Patrick, who got on the scoresheet for Sao Paulo, and the 29-year-old’s 31st-minute strike was enough to separate the two sides.
Juventude on the other hand, suffered their fourth consecutive defeat against Atletico Goianiense in their last outing. At Estadio Antonio Accioly, Juventude took the lead through Rodrigo Soares before goals from Airto, Wellington Rato and Leo Pereira turned the game on its head. Eduardo Baptista’s side hold the worst defensive record in the division , having conceded 24 goals, while scoring just 12 times. O Azul last tasted victory against sixth-placed Fluminense on June 5.
Sao Paulo will be without midfielders Luan Santos and Andres Colorado, who are sidelined with injuries. Meanwhile Alisson and Nikao are also long-term absentees because of injuries. Patrick, who has netted in his last games, would lead the attack alongside Calleri. Meanwhile central defender William Matheus is unavailable after receiving a red card in the last league match. As for Juventude, Vitor Mendes, Isidro Pitta and Felipe Alves are out with injuries. Chico, Jadson and Irmer would form the midfield trio with Bueno leading the attack.
