Rotherham United will host Watford in an EFL Championship fixture at the New York stadium on Saturday evening. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Sunderland last Wednesday, while Watford got the better of Middlesbrough 2-1 on the same day. The victory helped Hornets to move to the fourth position in the standings with 12 points from 7 games, while Rotherham, who have a game in hand, are sitting at the 12 spot with nine points.

Rotherham suffered their first league defeat of the campaign at the Stadium of Light, in the mid-week. After a goalless first half, the Black Cats netted three times in the second. Ross Stewart netted a brace, while Jack Clarke scored once to hand the defeat to the Millers. Prior to that, Rotherham defeated Birmingham City 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Richard Wood. It was the Millers’ second victory of the season, the first one came against Reading (4-0) on August 13. Both the victories came on home turf.

Watford, on the other hand, have made an impressive start to their bid to return to the top tier of English football. The Hornets have won and drawn three games each this term,so far. In their recent outing against Middlesbrough, the Hornets came from behind to secure all three points. Rodrygo Muniz put the visitors head inside the opening four minutes before Ismaila Sarr leveled the score for Watford.  Just when it looked like the game might be heading to draw, Vokoun Issouf Bayo scored a 93rd-minute winner to help Watford clinch the victory. 

Probable Lineups

Rotherham boss Paul Warne is likely to opt for a 3-5-2 formation with Washington and Ogbene leading the line. Hall, Wood and Humphreys might form the back-three with Barlaser sitting in front of them. As for Watford, Pedro might partner Sarr up front with Dele-Bashiru operating behind them. Kamara and Sema could occupy the flanks.
