Scottish Premiership champions Celtic will travel to Global Energy Stadium to take on Ross County in their second league fixture of the 2022-23 season on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Hearts in their opening fixture of the league campaign last Saturday, while, a day later, Celtic defeated Aberdeen 2-0 to begin their title-defence on a positive note. Celtic had an impressive pre-season, recording three wins from six friendlies while the remaining three ended in draws.
Celtic started their title-defence in a dominant fashion as they put two goals past Aberdeen without reply. Stephen Welsh opened the scoring inside the opening three minutes before Jota Walsh doubled the lead 15 minutes from time. It was a dominant performance from the Hoops as they recorded close to 70% ball possession and created more than 20 goal-scoring opportunities. Ross County, on the other hand, had an impressive pre-season, winning all of their five friendlies but were quickly brought back to earth in their league opener at Hearts. Jordan White came off the bench to pull a goal back in the final 10 minutes after Alan Forrest and Barrie McKay had put the hosts two goals in front.

Ross County forward William Akio is sidelined with a knee injury. Head coach Malkay Mackay’s side is likely to sit back, defend and will try to hit the opposition on the counter. The back-four of Conor Randall, Jack Baldwin, Alex Iacovitti and Ben Purrington is set to remain intact, with McGregor and O’Riley sitting in front of them. As for Celtic, central defender Carl Starfelt is recovering from a hamstring injury, while Reo Hatate is doubtful after picking up a couple of knocks in the previous game. Furuhashi is expected to lead the line with Turnbull playing behind him in a freer role.
