The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 3-1 win over Ludogorets Razgrad in a Europa League match on Thursday, while Lazio suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Feyenoord on the same day. The victory helped Jose Mourinho’s side to progress to the knockout round of the competitions as runners-up from Group C , while Lazio managed to secure only a third-place finish in Group F, pushing them down to the Europa Conference League. The Giallorossi came from behind to get the better of Ludogorets and secure a place in the knockout stages of the European competition. Lorenzo Pellegrini netted a second-half brace from the penalty spot before Nicolo Zaniolo’s 85th-minute strike sealed the win for Mourinho’s side at home. Prior to that, the Little Cubs had defeated Hellas Verona with a similar scoreline in a league-match last Monday. Zaniolo, Cristian Volpato and Stephan el Shaarawy netted for Roma at Marcantonio Bentegodi. It was the Yellow and Reds’ eighth league-win of the season.
Lazio, on the other hand, have recorded seven league-wins thus far. Their latest victory came against Atalanta (2-0) on October 23 courtesy of goals from Mattia Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson. After that, The Eagles lost two of their three outings across all competitions. The absence of captain Ciro Immobile due to injury and playmaker Sergej Milinkovic-Savic due to suspension, seems to have affected Lazio’s results. After the game against Roma, the Eagles will conclude their first part of their campaign against Monza in mid-week, then away to Juventus.
