The first leg in Haifa last Wednesday was a five-goal thriller that saw both sides playing an entertaining brand of football. The Israeli outfit opened the scoring through Frantz Pierrot before they were pegged back by Aleksandar Pesic and Guelor Kanga. After the break, goals from Pierrot and Tjarron Chery turned the game around. The Greens have taken a huge step towards securing a return to the Champions League group stage for the first time in 12 years. However, there is still one last hurdle for Barak Bakhar’s side to get past away from home.
Red star Belgrade boss Dejan Stankovic is likely to opt for a 4-4-2 formation with Pesic and Katai leading the line. Kanga and Bukari are expected to pull the strings in the midfield with Kangwa and Ivanic occupying the flanks. As for Maccabi Haifa, last game’s double-goal hero. Pierrot is definitely one to keep a close eye on. Chery, Lavi and Mohamed could form the midfield trio.
