The reverse fixture earlier this season ended 1-0 in favour of White-Blues, courtesy of Takefusa Kubo’s goal, midway through the first half.
Real Sociedad will host Cadiz in a La Liga fixture at Reale Arena on Friday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Valencia last Saturday, while Cadiz got the better of Rayo Vallecano with an identical scoreline, on the same day. Despite losing three points, White-Blues are still holding on to the third spot in the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 43 points from 23 games, just one clear of fourth-placed Atletico Madrid. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 15th position, with 25 points to their name, only two above the relegation zone.

Real Sociedad lost to Valencia, courtesy of Igor Zubeldia’s own goal five minutes before the break. It was the White-Blues’ sixth league-defeat of the season. Meanwhile Imanol Alguacil’s side have taken just one point from their last two games in front of home fans. Not so long ago Real Sociedad were comfortable in the top four, but just one win from their last five games, has allowed their nearest challengers Atletico Madrid to close the gap to just a solitary point. Their last triumph came against Espanyol (3-2) at Cornella el Prat, thanks to Takefusa Kubo’s opener midway through the first half, Alexander Sorloth’s 51st-minute effort and an own goal by Leandro Cabera, three minutes into the hour-mark. It was their 13th top flight victory of the season.
Cadiz, on the other hand, have recorded three wins from their last five games. The Yellow Submarine got the better of Rayo Vallecano in their last outing, through Sergi Guardiola’s 74th-minute effort. It was Cadiz’s third consecutive win in front of their own supporters at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla. Meanwhile, Sergio Gonzalez’s side’s away form this season has been disappointing, only managing to collect eight points from 11 games.
