Real Madrid have won two of three Spanish Super Cups held in it’s current format. Last year, the Super Cup kickstarted what was one of the most memorable seasons in the club’s history. Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping to lead his side on a similar path this time around too. Los Blancos will be eager to bounce back after a disappointing performance against Villarreal at the weekend. However, big occasions drive the best out of Madrid and it’s players and the fans will be hoping to make another competition memorable for them.
Valencia will be greatly disappointed with their form in recent games. In their last six matches they have managed just a couple of victories to go with four defeats. The club has endured a difficult season in La Liga so far with just 19 points so far and sitting at the 11th position. Gennaro Gattuso clearly has his work cut out with a difficult schedule to manage. Valencia lost to Real Betis in the Copa del Rey final last season, courtesy of which they find themselves in the Spanish Super Cup.
David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni have not travelled with the rest of the Real Madrid squad to Saudi Arabia due to injury issues. In addition to them, Ferland Mendy and Alvaro Odriozola are also doubtful to feature. As for Valencia, Nico Gonzalez and Samuel Castillejo won’t be available due to a foot injury and wrist injury respectively.
Real Madrid possible line-up: Courtois, Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Nacho, Kroos, Modric, Valverde, Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius
Valencia possible line-up: Mamardashvili, Correia, Comert, Diakhaby, Gaya, Musah, Guillamon, Almeida, Kluivert, Cavani, Lino
