According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, apart from Arsenal, Real Madrid are also interested in the Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It is learnt that the Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on reuniting with the 24-year-old at Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile earlier it was reported that Arsenal have pinpointed the Englishman as their next long-term striker with Mikel Arteta looking to complete his squad rebuild as Alexandre Laacazetter’s contract expires next summer and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the wrong side of 30.

Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United in the summer of 2016 and within a year became a first team regular. In his first few seasons at Goodison Park, he wasn’t used as a centre-forward, therefore he struggled to find his rhythm. However, during the 2019/20 campaign he was deployed in his natural positions as a number 9 and then rose to prominence, netting 13 Premier League goals.

The following season Calvert-Lewin netted 16 league goals and started the ongoing campaign with three goals before getting injured. His progress has attracted interests from top European clubs. Meanwhile he made his international debut in October 2020 and went on to make 11 appearances, scoring four goals so far.

Arsenal are desperate to add fresh legs to their forward line as Lacazette appears to turn down his contract before departing Emirates as a free agent next summer unless the Gunners sell him this January. The Frenchman has featured in only four games this season in all competitions.

Calvert-Lewin is a viable target for Arsenal and Real Madrid

In addition, Eddie Nketiah is also in the final year of his deal and is unlikely to be offered a contract extension. Aubameyang has been Arsenal’s torch bearer for the last couple of seasons. The Gabon international has scored 75 goals since joining the club in 2018 but he isn’t getting any younger at 32.

Keeping all this in mind, Calvert-Lewin is a viable target for the North Londoners. Meanwhile it won’t be an easy snatch for Arsenal as Spanish giants Real Madrid are also in pursuit for the striker.

Meanwhile Calvert-Lewin is also an apt option for Los Blancos because forwards Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz could be sold soon. Karim Benzema is 33-year-old. The Spanish giants might fancy their chances of snapping the striker, considering how much he grew in stature under Carlo Ancelotti tenure in Everton.

He is a complete striker who is 1.89m tall and has great physical prowess. His ability to hold up play and aerial strength make him a lethal marksman.
