Real Betis will host Osasuna in a Copa del Rey fixture at Benito Villamarin on Wednesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a Supercoppa semi-final loss to Barcelona last Thursday, while Osasuna secured a narrow La Liga-win over Mallorca two days later. Meanwhile, when it comes to the Spanish top flight standings, there isn’t much difference between the two clubs. Osasuna are occupying seventh position, having collected 27 points from 17 games, while Betis, who have a game in hand, and are sitting one place above Los Rojillos, with a point lead.

Betis were involved in a hard-fought encounter against Barcelona on Thursday. Manuel Pellegrini’s side twice came from behind to level the scores, courtesy of strikes from Nabi Fekir and Lorenzo Garcia, and took the game to penalties, where they eventually lost 4-2. Despite the loss, Pellegrini has plenty of positives to take as his side showed great character against the La Liga leaders. Meanwhile, Betis have the joint-second best defensive record in La Liga, having conceded just 13 league-goals.
Osasuna, on the other hand, also have a solid defence, having conceded only 16 La Liga goals this season. Jagoba Arrasate’s side edged past Mallorca last Saturday, courtesy of Aimar Oroiz’s lone goal two minutes into the second half. It was their eighth top flight victory of the season. Los Rojillos have already played three games in this season’s Copa del Rey, requiring extra time to get the better of Gimnastic Tarragona by a 2-1 scoreline in the last round earlier this month.
Pellegrini will be tempted to make a couple of changes to the side that started in the hard-fought loss to Barcelona last Thursday, in order to manage the workload. William Carvalho and Loren Moron could return to the playing eleven. The back-four of Ruibal, Pezzella, Felipe and Miranda may not be changed. As for Osasuna, midfielder Pablo Ibanez misses out due to suspension. Budimir could lead the line, with Ruben Garcia and Avila occupying the flanks.
Real Betis probable line-up: Bravo, Ruibal, Pezzella, Felipe, Miranda, Carvalho, Rodriguez, Henrique, Fekir, Sanchez, Moron
Osasuna probable line-up: Fernandez, Moreno, Hernandez, D. Garcia, Sanchez, Oroz, Torro, Gomez, Avila, Budimir, R. Garcia
