Reading will host Middlesbrough in a Championship fixture at the Madejski stadium on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a thumping 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last Wednesday, while Middlesbrough played out a 2-2 draw against Stoke City on the same day. The victory helped Reading to move to the ninth spot in the standings with 6 points from 4 games, while the visitors are languishing at the 20th spot with just 3 points. Middlesbrough are still waiting for their first win of the campaign.

Reading began their season with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Blackpool on July 30, before getting the better of Cardiff City 2-1, a week later. And then, Paul Ince’s side suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Rotherham United before pulling up their socks and putting three goals past Blackburn without reply in their recent outing. Tom McIntyre, Junior Hoilett and Lucas Joao netted for the Royals to take all three points against Blackburn.

Middlesbrough, on the other hand, are yet to find their winning formula this term. The Boro began their season with a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion before suffering a 3-2 defeat to QPR. And then, played two successive 2-2 draws against Sheffield United and Stoke City respectively. In their recent outing against Stoke City, Duncan Whatmore canceled out Jacob Brown’s opener before Phil Jagielka’s own goal gave the lead to Middlesbrough. Just when it looked like the Boro would register their first win of the campaign, Wright Phillips equalised in the injury time to share the spoils.

Probable Lineups

Reading has a number of injury concerns, with the likes of Liam Moore, Yakou Meite, Movie Ejaria, Femi Azeez and Sam Hutchinson all unavailable for Saturday’s contest. Shane Long and Ince are likely to form the attacking partnership with Hoilett and Guiness-Walker occupying the flanks. As for Middlesbrough, Marcus Forss could come into the starting eleven to partner Hoppe up front. Howson and Mowatt are likely to pull the strings in the midfield with Giles and McGree occupying the flanks.

Reading probable starting lineup:  Lumley, Yiadom, McIntyre, Homes, Hoilett, Fornah, Lum, Hendrick, Guinness-Walker, Ince, Long

Middlesbrough probable starting lineup:  Steffen, Dijksteel, Lenihan, Bola, Jones, McGree, Howson, Mowatt, Giles, Forss, Hoppe
