Rangers will host Kilmarnock in their first home match of the 2022-23 Scottish Premiership season at the Ibrox stadium on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Union SG in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third round qualifying tie last Wednesday, while the visitors played out a 1-1 draw against Dundee United in their league opener last weekend. Meanwhile Rangers made an impressive start to their new league campaign, recording a come from behind victory at Livingston last Saturday.

At the Almondvale stadium, the hosts took an early lead through Jon Nouble’s fifth-minute opener. After the break, Teddy Bears came out all guns blazing and netted two goals in the space of two minutes through Scott Arfield (72) and James Tavernier (74) to earn three points. However, in their next match against Union SG, which was a Champions League qualifier, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side conceded twice through Teddy Teuma and Dante Vanzeir. The Gers would be aiming to get back to winning ways on Saturday, as they have won their last six meetings against the Killie.

Kilmarnock, on the other hand, earned a point against Dundee United courtesy of a last-ditch equaliser from Ash Tayler after Dylan Lewitt had given the lead to the visitors. Kilmarnock are aiming to win their first match at Ibrox stadium since March 2018. The 2021-22 Scottish Championship winners are preparing for back-to-back games against Glaswegian giants Rangers and Celtic, and they are heading into both fixtures as underdogs.
