The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Burnley last Wednesday, while Sheffield United secured a narrow 1-0 win over Swansea City on the same day. The victory helped the visitors to take their points tally to 20 from 9 games and remain at the summit of the standings. Preston, meanwhile, are sitting at the 12th position with as many points.

Preston shared the spoils against Burnley after Taylor Harwood Bellis’ 10th-minute opener was canceled out by Jordan Storey five minutes later. It was Preston’s sixth draw of the Championship season, the other five were goalless. The Lilywhites hold one of the best defensive records in the Championship this campaign thus far, having conceded just two times in nine games, while they have managed to score only three goals.
Sheffield United, on the other hand, have made a brilliant start to the new season, recording six wins from nine Championship games, to be sitting at the summit of the table. In their last outing at the Liberty stadium, Red Khadra’s 94th-minute goal helped the Blades snatch a victory. It was Sheffield’s third consecutive victory. Paul Heckingbottom’s side will now look to continue building momentum and establish a firm grip on the top spot.
Preston boss Ryan Lowe is unlikely to alter the back-three consisting of Storey, Lindsay and Cunningham. Ben Whiteman could continue in the defensive midfielders position with Potts and Brady occupying the flanks. As for Sheffield United, the injury list is pretty long. The likes of Max Lowe, Enda Stevens, Jack Robinson, Jack O’connell, Ciara Clark and Jayden Bogle are occupying the medical room. McBurnie could lead the line with Ndiaye and Berge in support.
Preston North End probable starting lineup: Woodman, Storey, Lindsay, Cunningham, Potts, Whiteman, Johnson, Brady, Browne, Rils, Parrott
Sheffield United probable starting lineup: Foderingham, Basham, Egan, Ahmedhodzic, Baldock, Norwood, Doyle, Norrington-Davies, Ndiaye, Berge, McBurnie
