Preston North End will host Birmingham City in an EFL Championship fixture at the Deepdale on Saturday evening. Preston are undefeated in this edition of the Championship so far, having recorded two wins and five draws in seven outings. In their last match at Coventry, Emil Riis Jakobsen came off the bench to net the decisive goal, and help the Lilywhites secure all three points. Meanwhile Ryan Lowe’s side have been solid at the back, not conceding a single goal in the league so far. Prior to the victory against Coventry, the Lilywhites played out three consecutive goalless league draws against Cardiff City, Watford and Rotherham. 

Birmingham , on the other hand, began their season decently, collecting four points from their opening two games. However,  the Blues then lost four of their next five games. In their recent outing against Norwich City, Scott Hogan gave the lead to the Blues, before the hosts netted twice through Andrew Omobamidele and Onel Hernandez to hand Birmingham their third consecutive defeat. John Eustace’s side has found the back of the net just four times, while conceding eight, this league season so far.

Probable Lineups

Preston midfielder Ben Woodburn is sidelined with an ankle injury, therefore Alam Browne is likely to join Whiteman and McCann in the midfield. Riis Jakobsen and Parrott are likely to be the strike-partners with Brady and Potts occupying the flanks. As for Birmingham, Sanderson, Roberts and Trusty could form the three-man defence with Gardner sitting in front of them. Former Watford-man Deeney is expected to lead the line alongside Hogan.
