Porto, who are seeking a record 23rd Supertaca title, had an impressive pre-season, winning all four of their friendlies this summer, against the likes of Bristol Rovers (3-0), Portimonense (1-0), Vitoria SC (1-0) and Monaco. In their recent game against Ligue 1 outfit at Estadio Do Dragao, Mehdi Taremi and Wenderson Galeno netted for the Portuguese champions to secure the win. They have now won each of their seven games across all competitions, scoring 18 goals and conceding only five times and their only defeat of the 2021-22 league campaign came against Braga on April 25.
Tondela, on the other hand, didn’t register a single win in their three friendlies this summer, starting with a 1-1 draw against Santa Clara, lost to Oliveira de Hospital before playing out another 1-1 draw against Gil Vicente FC. The Gold and Greens had a disastrous season last term, finishing second from the bottom to get relegated to the second tier of Portuguese football. Nuno Campos’ men failed to win any of their final six league games last season. Â
