Porto began their 2022-23 European campaign with a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid on September 7, before suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Club Brugge six days later. However, the Portuguese outfit have made a good start to their Primeira Liga title-defence, having won six of their opening eight games to be sitting at the third position in the standings. In their last outing against second-placed Braga, goals from Evanilson, Stephan Eustaquio, Pepe and Galeno helped the Dragons secure all three points at home.

Leverkusen, on the other hand, have been struggling in the Bundesliga, having lost five of their opening eight games to be languishing at the 17th spot in the German top division table, with only VFL Bochum behind them. However, in the European stage, Gerardo Seoane’s side have managed to register one win and a defeat thus far. Their lone victory came against Atletico Madrid (2-0), courtesy of goals from Robert Andrich and Moussa Diaby in September.

Porto striker Mahdi Taremi is back from suspension and is likely to spearhead the attack alongside Evanilson. Uribe could sit in front of the back-four allowing the likes of Otavio, Eustaquio and Pepe to push forward. As for Leverkusen, the likes of Florian Wirtz, Exequiel Palacios and Karim Bellarabi are sidelined with injuries. Czech Republic international Patrik Schick is likely to be the target-man up front, with Diaby, Hlozek and Hudson-Odoi operating around him.
Porto probable starting lineup: Costa, Conceicao, Pepe, Carmo, Wendell, Uribe, Otavio, Eustaquio, Pepe, Evanilson, Taremi
Bayer Leverkusen probable starting lineup: Hradecky, Frimpong, Tah, Tapsoba, Bakker, Andrich, Demirbay, Diaby, Hlozek, hudson-Odoi, Schick
