Patrick ended the league campaign on the back of a six-game unbeaten streak, before thrashing Queens Park 8-3 in the two legged Scottish Premiership quarter-final playoff and then went on the secure a stunning 8-0 aggregate victory over Ayr United in the last four playoff tie. Last weekend, Kris Doolan’s men put five goals past the Honest Men without reply in the second leg of the semi-final tie thanks to Scott Tiffoney’s brace and one goal each from Jack McMillan, Steven Lawless and Kevin Holt. The result extended their unbeaten run to ten games in the second tier, while winning seven matches in the period, with six clean sheets to show.
Ross County, on the other hand, ended their regular Premiership campaign with a 3-1 defeat away to Kilmarnock despite the fact that Yan Dhanda got on the scoresheet. The result extended their winless run to three games, losing two times in the period. The Staggies have recorded only nine league-wins this term and their last success came away to Dundee United (3-1), courtesy of Jordan White’s hat-trick. Malky Mackay’s side collected 34 points from 38 games to finish just three points ahead of rock bottom side Dundee United. The Dingwall-based outfit have had little to celebrate away from home this term, winning only four of their 19 league matches on the road and keeping just four clean sheets.
