Partizan will host Sheriff Tiraspol in the second leg of their Europa Conference League playoff tie at Partizan Stadium on Thursday evening. The Serbian club secured a narrow 1-0 win in the away leg in Moldova last week, thanks to Ricardo Jorge Gomes’ 45th-minute effort. The visitors were initially involved in the Europa League, finishing third in Group E, behind Real Sociedad and Manchester United, and got dropped down to the Conference League. Partizan, meanwhile secured second position in Group D of the Conference League, level on points (9) with first-placed Nice, but separated by head-to-head.

Partizan are having a pretty good Serbian top flight season, having collected 49 points from 22 games to be sitting at the second spot in the standings, 11 points adrift of the leaders Red Star Belgrade. However, their recent league-form has been a bit patchy, losing two of their last five games. Meanwhile, the Undertakers’ last outing ended in a 2-1 win away to Spartak subotica, courtesy of a brace from Gomes. It was their 15th Serbian SuperLig-victory of the campaign.
Sheriff Tiraspol, on the other hand, are also doing extremely well in their league, as they are comfortably sitting at the summit of the Moldovan National Division, with 33 points to their name from 14 games, six clear of the chasing pack. The Wasps have not been in league action since the beginning of November, so they may be lacking match fitness, having only played two friendlies to warm up for the first leg of their continental tie against Partizan. Roberto Bordin’s side needs to overturn a one-goal deficit to advance to the last-16 of the competition and the team from Transnistria have a history of punching above their weight in Europe, having defeated Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Champions League last season.
Partizan defender Ivan Vujacic, who received a red card in the first leg, will be unavailable for Thursday’s outing. Therefore youngster Mihajilo Ilic is expected to come into the playing eleven, joining Markovic in the central defence. Gomes, who has scored nine goals in his last 10 games, will continue to lead the line, with Belic, Diabate and Menig in support. As for Sheriff, striker Abou Ouattara is out with anninjury, therefore Rasheed Akanbi might spearhead the attack, with Abdoul Tapsoba and Amine providing the support.
Partizan probable line-up: Popovic, Filipovic, Ilic, Markovic, Sehovic, Fejsa, Natcho, Belic, Diabate, Menig, Gomes
Sheriff Tiraspol Probable line-up: Koval, Zohouri, Kiki, Garananga, Kpozo, Badolo, Kyabou, Diop, Talal, Atiemwen, Tapsoba
