Paris-Saint-Germain will host Juventus in their first group-match of the 2022-23 Champions League campaign at Parc de Princes on Tuesday night. The hosts earned a spot in the competition by winning the Ligue 1 title last term, while Juventus finished fourth in the 2021-22 Serie A standings to qualify for Europe’s elite club football tournament. The visitors are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina in a domestic league fixture last Saturday, while PSG thrashed Nantes 3-0 a day later.

Last season, PSG were knocked out by Real Madrid in the last-16 stage. Christopher Galtier has replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout this summer, and the former Lille boss looks to have made PSG a more solid unit. The initial results have been pretty good, having recorded five wins and a draw. In their last outing against Nantes, Kylian Mbappe netted a brace, while Nuno Mendes scored one to seal the victory for PSG at Stade de la Beaujoire.
Juventus, on the other hand, lost to Villareal in the last-16 stage last term. The Turin-based side, who finished runner-ups in 2015 and 2017 haven’t been able to go beyond the second round in the last three editions. Massimiliano Allegri’s side haven’t made a great start to their 2022-23 Serie A campaign, registering just two sins from five games to be sitting at the sixth position. In their last game at Stadio Artemio Franchi, Arkadiusz Milik gave the lead to Juventus before Christian Kouame netted the equaliser to share the spoils.

PSG boss Galtier has a near fully fit squad at his disposal with Julian Draxler and Timothee Pembele being the only two absentees because of knee injuries. Last game’s double-goal hero Mbappe will join Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr up front. Sergio Ramos, Marquinho and Kimpembe are likely to form the back-three. As for Juventus, the likes of Paul Pogba, Adrien Rabiot, Wojciech Szczesny, Marley Ake, Kaio Jorge and Federico Chiesa are sidelined with injuries. Dusan Vlahovic is expected to lead the line with Kostic and Cuadrado in support.
