Paraguay vs UAE: International Friendly Live Stream, Schedule, Fixture and Probable Lineups

Paraguay and the United Arab Emirates will face each other in an international friendly at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt in Austria on Friday.  Both nations failed to qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup , with Paraguay finishing ninth in the South American qualifying group, while Asian outfit lost to Australia in the knockout tie. The South American outfit was last in action during the start of the month, as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mexico in a friendly. UAE, meanwhile, haven’t played any international games since losing 2-1 to Australia in the fourth round world Cup qualification in June. 

Paraguay had a disastrous World Cup qualification campaign, winning just three of their 18 games to finish at the 8th position, only above Bolivia and Venezuela. Following that disappointment, Los Guaranies travelled to Asia in June, and they suffered a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Japan and played out a more commendable 2-2 draw with South Korea in the friendlies. Their most recent outfing against Mexico at the beginning of September ended in a 1-0 win courtesy of Derlis Gonzalez’ lone goal in the 50th minute. 

UAE, on the other hand, finished third in their Asian World Cup qualification group to earn a spot in the fourth round knockout fixture against Australia in June. Although Caio Canedo canceled out Jackson Irvine’s opener, the Socceroos found the winner through Adjin Hrustic, six minutes from time to secure the win. Now, aiming to bounce back and rebuild a positive run of form, Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side will hope to get the better of the South American outfit on Friday.

Probable Lineups

Paraguay attacker Angel Romero is a notable absentee from the squad. Gonzalez is likely to lead the line with Miguel Almiron, Villasanti and Medina in support. Ortiz and Cubas could pull the strings in the midfield. As for UAE, Ali Mabkhout, who has netted 80 international goals, is expected to spearhead the attack with Al Maazmi and Canedo occupying the flanks.
