Saudi Arabia will continue their final phase of preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup with a friendly against Panama at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. The Green Falcons are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Iceland in a friendly on Sunday, while Panama suffered a 2-1 defeat to Qatar a day earlier. Saudi Arabia will also take on Croatia next week, before beginning their Qatar World Cup campaign against Argentina on November 22. The Asian outfit are drawn in Group C alongside Argentina, Poland and Mexico.

Saudi Arabia had an impressive World Cup qualification campaign, collecting 23 points from their 10 outings to top Group B ahead of Japan. The Green Falcons finished off their qualification campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Australia on March 29. After that, Herve Renard’s side participated in six friendlies. Saudi’s Arabia’s latest outing against Iceland ended in a narrow 1-0 win courtesy of Saud Abdulhamid’s lone goal inside the opening 26 minutes. Panama, on the other hand, missed out on a World Cup qualifying playoff spot for Qatar 2022 by four points, as they finished at the fifth spot in the CONCACAF group with 21 points to their name in 14 games. Thomas Christiansen’s side have won four of their last six official games without conceding.
Saudi Arabia boss Herve Renard is likely to opt for a strong starting lineup. Al-Buraikan is likely to lead the line, with Al-Muwallad and Al-Dawsari in support. Al-Faraj, Al-Malki and Kanno could form the midfield-trio. As for Panama, Guerrero could spearhead the attack, with Yanis and Diaz occupying the flanks. Carrasquilla and Martinez are expected to pull the strings in the midfield.
