Real Madrid will be looking to close the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona when they travel to El Sadar on Saturday night to take on Osasuna. Los Blancos are heading into the match on the back of a dominant 4-0 win over rock-bottom side Elche in the mid-week, while the hosts played out a goalless draw against Real Valladolid last weekend. The victory helped second-placed Real Madrid to take their points tally to 48 from 21 games, eight adrift of the summit, while Los Rojillos are sitting at the ninth position, with 30 points to their name.

Osasuna have had a pretty good season thus far, recording eight wins, six draws and seven defeats in the Spanish top flight. Los Rojillos are just four points adrift of the top-six. But the worrying part is that Jagoba Arrasate’s side have won just one of their last eight league-games, which came at Mallorca in the middle of last month. Last time out, Osasuna played out a 0-0 draw at Real Valladolid. Prior to that, Los Rojillos shared the spoils against Espanyol, despite taking the lead through Ante Budimir.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, defeated Al Hilal 5-3 in Morocco to lift a record-extending fifth Club World Cup title last Sunday, before returning home for their La Liga game against Elche on Wednesday. Los blancos netted four times against the struggling Los Franjiverdes without any reply. Marco Asenso opened the scoring inside the opening eight minutes, before Karim Benzema netted a first half double to make the score 3-0. And then, Luka Modric’s 80th-minute effort put the icing on the cake at Santiago Bernabeu. It was their 15th top flight victory of the season.

Osasuna attackers Ezequiel Avila and Juan Cruz are unavailable for the game against Los Blancos because of suspension, while Abde Ezzalzouli is back from suspension. The injury list consists of Aimar Oroz, Ruben Pena and Nacho Vidal. As for Real Madrid, the likes of Toni Kroos and Benzema are out with fitness issues, while Ferland Mendy and Eden Hazard are sidelined with injuries.
