Osasuna defeated Sevilla 2-0 in the quarter-final of the Cup competition last month, courtesy of second half efforts from Ezequiel Avila and Abde Ezzalzouli. However, since then, Los Rojillos have won just one of their next five outings. Their lone victory during that period came against Sevilla last Sunday. David Garcia’s early opener, Fernando’s own goal and Ezzaizouli’s late effort helped Jagoba Arrasate’s side register their 9th league-win of the season. Osasuna have only ever reached the Copa del Rey final once, losing to Real Betis in 2005.
Athletico Club, meanwhile, have a stunning record when it comes to Spain’s oldest football competition, having won the trophy 23 times, a record only bettered by Barcelona. This is the fourth consecutive season in which the Lions have reached the final four, bowing out at this stage of the competition against Valencia last year. Meanwhile, Athletic managed to avenge last season’s loss to Los Che, by defeating them 3-1 in the previous round match last month. Iker Munian, Nico Williams and Mikel Vesga found the back of the net for Ernesto Valverde’s side at Mestalla. But, last time out, the Lions lost to Girona in the league, despite the fact that Turi Berchiche and Raul Garcia got on the scoresheet.
