Anthony Martial has witnessed an indifferent season this time around. He has struggled to build up on the 23 goals he scored for the club last season. The 25-year-old striker’s season went from bad to worse after suffering a knee injury during the recent international break. When representing France against Kazakhstan, he picked up the injury. He was ruled out of last Sunday’s Premier League victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Now it is not clear whether the Frenchman will again play for the club this season. Manchester United Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an injury update on Martial recently. Speaking ahead of the Europa League quarterfinal first leg against Granada, Solskjaer was not sure about Martial returning to action this season.

“Anthony has started his recovery and, if we see him before the end of the season, I will be very surprised,” Ole was quoted by manutd.com. “But, of course, he is determined to come back as quickly as he can. There are important games for us before the end of the season and then there are the Euros [with France, in the summer].”

Solskjaer also informed how disappointed Martial is to not play for the club right now. “He has already come in [to the training ground], he is bright around the place. [He’s] disappointed he can’t help us now, but, of course, he wants to work to get back as quickly as possible,” he added.
