Odisha FC complete the signing of defender Sebastian Thangmuansang

The 22-year-old right-back from Manipur recently won the I-League title with Gokulam Kerala FC.

Indian Super League (ISL) side Odisha FC have completed the signing of defender Sebastian Thangmuansang from Gokulam Kerala FC. This decision could well go on to emerge as an interesting move ahead of the eighth season of the Indian Super League (ISL). The 22-year-old right-back from Manipur recently won the I-League title with Gokulam Kerala FC. Thangmuansang has signed a two-year contract with the club, having represented Neroca and Chennai City FC in the I-league after his youth career at Pune.

OFC CEO Mr Rohan Sharma expressed his excitement after the addition of the defender. Rohan stated that the club had been tracking him for the past two years.

“We are very excited to have Sebastian join our club. We’ve been tracking him for the past two years and we are glad he’s finally joined the team” he said as quoted by the official website of the Odisha-based franchise.

Exciting Talent

Club President Mr. Raj Athwal further expressed his delight after the decision to sign Sebastian who is considered one of the most promising defenders in the country.

“We are delighted Sebastian has agreed to join Odisha FC. He is one of the most promising defenders in the country and will add further depth and quality to the team,” expressed Athwal.

The defender has stated that he looking to repay the trust shown by the management by giving his best for the team, and delivering optimum performances as much as possible.

“I am really excited to be a part of Odisha FC and continue my football journey with them. I hope to repay the trust shown on me by the management, give my best for the team and make the fans happy. Can’t wait to meet my new teammates and start training with them,” concluded Thangmuansang.

It will be interesting to note the moves by other franchises as well, considering the intense competition on show in the previous edition of the footballing league. Odisha FC recently reached an agreement with winger Jerry Mawihmingthanga over a contract extension, that saw the winger from Mizoram retained on a long term contract.

The 24-year-old winger, with five assists from 17 games, recorded the maximum number of assists by an Indian in the previous season.
