NY Red Bulls vs Barcelona: Pre-season Friendly Live Stream, Schedule, Fixture and Probable Lineups

New York Red Bulls will host Barcelona in a pre-season friendly at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday. The hosts are in the midst of their domestic campaign and are heading into the match on the back of a 5-1 defeat to Orlando City in the US open Cup semi-final fixture last Thursday. Meanwhile Blaugrana played out a 2-2 draw against Juventus in their recent outing. The hosts are 22 matches into the Major League Soccer (MLS) season, sitting at the third spot in the Eastern Conference table, boasting a total of 36 points. Barcelona, on the other hand, had a rare trophyless season last term, finishing second in the La Liga Santander, 13 points behind champions Real Madrid. 

The Red Bulls recorded a 4-3 win over Austin in their last league match on July 24, courtesy of goals from Serge Ngoma, Dru Yearwood, Cameron Harper and Tom Barlow. Gerhard Struber’s side haven’t been in great form off late, winning just three of their last seven games across all competitions. The Australian tactician is expected to rotate his squad heavily and give the majority of the team a taste of playing against the Catalan outfit. After the game against Barcelona, the Red Bulls will resume their MLs campaign at home against Colorado on August 2. 

Barcelona, on the other hand, began their pre-season, with a 1-1 draw against Spanish third tier side Olot on July 13, before getting the better of Inter Miami 6-0, a week later. And then, recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Real Madrid before sharing the spoils against Juvenrtus. Last Tuesday, at Cotton bowl, Ousmane Dembele netted a brace for Barcelona, while Moise Kean scored a double for the Serie A outfit. Xavi’s side will also take on Pumas UNAM before beginning their 2022-23 La Liga season at home against Rayo Vallecano on August 13.  

Probable Lineups

Ny Red Bulls would be without their goalkeeper AJ Marucci, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Patryk Klimala could lead the attack alongside Omir Fernandez and Serge Ngoma. Scottish midfielder Mewis Morgan could also feature at some point of the match on Sunday. As for Barcelona, Xavi could test the new recruits. Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Raphinha  and Robert Lewandowski are likely to find a place in the playing eleven in order to gel with the team before the competitive action begins.
