Wolfsburg ended a five-game winless run by putting two goals past Koln without reply at RheinEnergie Stadium last weekend. Yannick Gerhardt put the Wolves ahead inside the opening four minutes, before Maximilian Arnold doubled the lead mid-way through the second half. It was Niko Kovac’s side’s ninth league-win of the season. Wolfsburg have scored two or more goals in 11 of their last 15 league-games.Â
Frankfurt, on the other hand, have lost three of their last four games in all competitions. Their last win came against Werder Bremen in the league on February 18, thanks to Marco Freedl’s seventh-minute own goal and a second half effort by Randal Kolo Muani. It was their 11th top flight victory of the season. After that, the Eagles suffered a 2-0 loss to Napoli in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, before being beaten by Leipzig in the Bundesliga, last weekend. Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg had provided a 2-0 lead to Die Roten Bullen in the first half, before Djibril Sow pulled one back for Frankfurt on the hour-mark.Â
Wolfsburg Lukas Nmecha might miss Sunday’s game because of illness. Wind might lead the line, with Baku and Wimmer in support. As for Frankfurt, Sow is suspended for the game against the Wolves, while Eric Dina Ebimbe is sidelined with an injury. Kolo Muani will continue to spearhead the attack.
Wolfsburg Probable line-up: Casteels, Fischer, Bornauw, Van De Ven, Otavio, Svanberg, Arnold, Gerhardt, Baku, Wind, Wimmer
Frankfurt Probable line-up: Trapp, Tuta, Hasebe, Ndicka, Buta, Kamada, Rode, Max, Lindstrom, Gotze, Kolo, Muani
