Coventry City will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games in the EFL Championship when they travel to DW Stadium on Tuesday to take on Wigan Athletic. The Sky Blues are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Hull City this weekend, while the hosts were thrashed 3-0 by league-leaders Burnley, on the same day. The visitors are currently occupying ninth spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 53 points from 36 games, just four adrift of the top-six. The Latics, meanwhile, are languishing at the 24th-position, the bottom of the table, with just 32 points to their name, six away from safety.

Wigan remain in serious danger of being relegated from the second tier this term after getting thrashed by Burnley this Saturday. Nathan Tella’s brace and Lyle Foster’s strike at Turf Moor condemned the visitors to their 18th second tier defeat of the season. Meanwhile the Lactics played the majority of the match with 10 men after Omar Rekik received a red card just before the half-hour mark. Shaun Maloney’s side need to start picking up points on a regular basis to have any chance of moving out of the drop zone. On the positive note, Wigan are unbeaten in their last three home-matches.
Coventry, on the other hand, have recorded two wins and one defeat from their last three away-matches. Unlike their Tuesday’s opponents, the Sky Blues are in stunning form, having not tasted defeat in their last seven outings, while winning four of those games. Last time out, Coventry came from behind to earn a point against Hull City, courtesy of Matt Goden’s 71st-minute equalsier. Prior to that, Mark Robins’s men thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-0 at John Smith’s Stadium, courtesy of Viktor Gyokeres’ brace and one goal each from Gustavo Hamer and Tyler Walker. It was their 14th league-win of the campaign.
Wigan defender Rekik will not be available for Tuesday’s game, having picked up a red card in the last outing. Therefore Steven Caulker could come into the playing eleven, joining Hughes, Darikwa and Nyambe in the back-four. As for Coventry, Gyokeres, who has 24 goal-contributions to his name in the second tier this season, more than any other player, will partner Godden up front, with Dabo and Norton-Cuffy occupying the flanks.
Wigan Athletic probable Lineup: amos, Darikwa, Hughes, Caulker, Nyambe, Naylor, Power, Keane, Magennis, Fletcher, Lang
Coventry City probable lineup: Wilson, McNally, McFadzean, Doyle, Dabo, Eccles, Hamer, Bidwell, Norton-Cuffy, Gyokeres, Godden
