Watford will host Birmingham City in an EFL Championship fixture at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 loss away to Queens Park Rangers this weekend, while the Blues got the better of Rotherham United 2-0, on the same day. The Hornets are currently occupying 11th spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 51 points from 36 games, six adrift of the top-six. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 18th position with 42 points to their name, ten clear of the relegation zone.

On Saturday, Watford lost to QPR courtesy of Tim Iroegbunam’s lone goal inside the opening 15 minutes. The result extended their winless run to three games. The Hornets’ last win came against West Bromwich Albion on February 21, courtesy of Ken Sema’s brace and one goal from Ismaila Sarr. It was their 13th second tier victory of the season. Meanwhile, despite the undoubted attacking prowess within their ranks, Watford have struggled to find the net of late, having failed to score in their last three outings.

Birmingham, on the other hand, headed into the game against Rotherham, on the back of a five-game winless streak, but managed to secure all three points, thanks to first-half efforts from Reda Khadra and Kevin Long. Saturday was perfect for the Blues, as they dominated the proceedings at St. Andrew’s and restricted the Millers to just one shot on goal in the entire match. Although mathematical safety will not be assured until April, John Eustace’s men may need just a few more points to retain their second tier status.
