Tottenham Hotspur play host to West Ham United in a Premier League fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat at AC Milan in their first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie in the mid-week, while West Ham played out a 1-1 league-draw against Chelsea last weekend. As of now, Spurs are occupying fifth spot in the English top flight standings, having collected 29 points from 23 games, just two adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle United. The visitors, meanwhile, have a game in hand and are languishing at the 18th position in the table, with 20 points to their name, one point away from safety.

Since edging past Manchester City 1-0, through Harry Kane’s goal, in the top flight on February 5, Spurs have suffered back-to-back defeats. Last Saturday, Antonio Conte’s side lost 4-1 to Leicester in the league, despite taking the lead through Rodrigo Bentancur. After that, Tottenham traveled to Milan for their European fixture, and Brahim Diaz’s lone goal inside the opening eight minutes gave a slight advantage to the Serie A outfit in the tie. Spurs’ Premier League season has been pretty hot and cold, having recorded 12 wins, three draws and eight defeats from 23 games thus far.

West Ham, on the other hand, are struggling to keep themselves alive in the top tier, and recent results would certainly provide a ray of hope to the Hammers. David Moyes’ side are undefeated in their last three top flight games, and have collected five points during that period. Last time out, the Hammers came from behind to earn a point against the Blues, thanks to Emerson Palmieri’s 28th-minute equaliser. Meanwhile, West Ham have lost just once in their last seven outings since the turn of the year.
