Slovenia will be aiming to carry on their impressive start to the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifier when they host San Marino at Stozice Sports Park on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Kazakhstan in their opening match of Group H on Thursday, while San Marino suffered a 2-0 defeat to Northern Ireland. Meanwhile Slovenia have a perfect record against La Serenissima, having won all five previous encounters.

Slovenia went into their opening match of Euro 2024 qualifier at Astana Arena as favourites but surprisingly went behind through Maksim Samarodov’s 23rd-minute effort. Nevertheless, Matjaz Kek’s side came out all guns blazing in the second half and netted twice through David Brekalo and Zan Vipotnik to secure all three points for the visitors in their first ever meeting between the two sides. Meanwhile, the result extended Slovenia’s unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions, and that includes a 2-1 Nations League-win over Norway back in September last year. Denmark are certainly the favourites to secure top spot in the group, and Slovenia looks like top contenders to finish second in the table.
San Marino, on the other hand, will be aiming not to finish at the bottom of the standings. The nation with a population of just 3300 have never qualified for a major international tournament and are currently sitting at the 211th position in the FIFA Rankings. Le Serenissima’s lone competitive-win came against Liechtenstein way back in 2004. Last time out, San Marino lost to Northern Ireland courtesy of Dion Charles’ brace.
