Juventus will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games across all competitions when they travel to Stadio Olimpico to take on Roma in a Serie A fixture on Sunday night. Biaconeri are heading into the match on the back of a dominant 4-2 win over Torino on Tuesday, while the hosts suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away to Cremonese, on the same day. The reverse fixture in August ended in a 1-1 draw after Juve took an early lead through Dusan Vlahovic’s 2nd-minute effort, and Tammy Abraham leveled the score 21 minutes from time.

Roma’s five-game winning run in all competitions came to a shuddering halt on Tuesday, when they met Serie A’s bottom club Cremonese at Stadio Giovanni Zini. Although Leonardo Spinazzola canceled out Frank Tsanjout’s opener, Daniel Ciofani’s 83rd-minute penalty kick handed Roma their sixth top flight defeat of the season. Prior to that, Jose Mourinhos’s side defeated RB Salzburg 2-0 at home to go through to the last-16 stage of Europa League with a 2-1 aggregate win. As of now, Roma are occupying fifth spot in the Italian top flight standings, having collected 44 points from 24 games, just three adrift of fourth-placed AC Milan, who have played an extra game.

Juventus, on the other hand, are sitting two places behind the Little Cubs, separated by nine points. Last time out, Max Allegri’s side twice came from behind to get the better of Torino at Allianz Stadium, courtesy of goals from Juan Cuadrado, Danilo, Gleison Bremer and Adrien Rabiot. It was Juve’s 15th Serie A-win of the season, only leaders Napoli have recorded more victories (21) in the top flight this season. But because of the point deduction, Bianconeri find themselves outside the European qualification spot. Meanwhile, the Old Lady have been excellent on their travels in the recent weeks, winning six of their last seven away matches in the league.
