After three consecutive defeats in all competition earlier in February, the Parisians returned to winning ways in style, coming from behind to beat Lille 4-3 at home, before putting three goals past second-placed Marseille, last Sunday. The Olympians had a great opportunity to put pressure on the leaders as a victory in front of home supporters would have closed the gap to just two points. But a two-man show by Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe helped the reigning champions secure all three points in the derby. Mbappe netted a double to equal Edinson Cavani’s record as PSG’s highest goal-scorer of all time on 200 scalps. Meanwhile, the Frenchman turned provider for Messi to score his 700th club career goal. It was PSG’s 19th league-win of the season. After the game against Nantes, PSG will travel to Germany for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, aiming to overturn a one goal deficit. Meanwhile Galtier’s side have already been eliminated from the French Cup, courtesy of losing 2-1 to Marseille last month.
Nantes, on the other hand, fought back to beat Lens 2-1 in the quarter-finals of Coupe de France on Tuesday. The Yellow House were indebted to a pair of penalties by Andy Robert, after Seko Fofana’s 28th-minute opener. They will face Lyon in the semi-finals of the Cup competition in April. Meanwhile, Antonine Komboure’s men have lost their last two league-games, and their last triumph in Ligue 1 came against Lorient on February 12, thanks to Ludovic Blas’ lone goal on the hour-mark. Since then, the Canaries have failed to keep a clean sheet in their next five outings in all tournaments. Nantes only have two wins from their 13 away games in the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season.

As for Nantes, defenders Sebastian Corchia, Quentin Merlin and Charles Traore are expected to miss Saturday’s game, while Nicolas Pallois is back after recovering from a knee injury.
