Norwich are unbeaten in their last three games in the second tier, and have won two in that period. The Canaries began the month of February with back-to-back defeats against Burnley (3-0) and Bristol city (1-0). But then, David Wagner’s side quickly got their acts together to defeat Hull City 3-1 at home mid-way through this month, before playing out a goalless draw away to Wigan Athletic last weekend. Last time out, Norwich got the better of Birmingham, thanks to first-half brace from Marcelino Nunez and Christos Zolis’ goal, four minutes into the injury time. It was their 14th league-win of the season.
Cardiff, on the other hand, are also in their best moment since the beginning of October, having won two consecutive games. The Bluebirds defeated Birmingham 2-0 on February 14, courtesy of late goals from Perry Ng and Callum Robinson, before securing a narrow win over Reading, four days later. Romaine Sawyers’ lone goal in the injury time separated the two sides at Cardiff City stadium and helped the Sabri Lamouchi’s side secure their ninth second tier win of the season. Prior to the two successive victories, they had endured a 12-game winless streak in all competitions.
Norwich attacker Josh Sargent is sidelined with an ankle injury, striker Teemu Pukki is likely to feature at some stage on Thursday. Wagner is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that got three points against Birmingham last time out. As for Cardiff City, Kion Etete is likely to partner Sory Kaba up front, with Romeo and O’Dowda occupying the flanks.
Norwich City probable line-up: Gunn, Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Giannoulis, Sara, McLean, Dowel, Nunez, Hernandez, Idah
Cardiff City Probable line-up: Allsop, Romeo, Ng, McGuinness, Kipre, O’Dowda, Rinomhota, Sawyers, Wintle, Etete, Kaba
