Manchester United have been in stunning form since returning from the World Cup break, having lost just once in their last 16 outings across all competitions. Last time out, Erik Ten Hag’s side produced a brilliant performance at Camp Nou to earn a draw against the La Liga leaders. Marcus Rashford was United’s best player in Catalonia as the Englishman scored the opening goal, before forcing an own goal by Jules Kounde. It was the 25-year-old’s 14th goal in his last 16 games in all competitions. Prior to that, the Red Devils secured a 2-0 League-win away to Leeds United, thanks to goals from Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. It was their 14th top flight victory of the season.
Leicester, also have been in pretty good form of late, having won back-to-back league-games against Aston Villa (4-2) and Spurs . Last time out, the Foxes came from behind to thrash Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Rodrigo Bentancur put Tottenham ahead inside the opening 14 minutes before Nampalys Mendy, James Maddison, Kelechi Iheanacho and Harvey Barnes found the back of the net for the Foxes in North London. It was their seven league-win of the season but still the Foxes are just four points clear of the relegation zone.
United boss Ten Hag is likely to rotate his squad in order to manage the workload of the player as they will welcome Barcelona for the second leg on Thursday. Defensive midfielder Casemiro will serve the final game of his domestic three-match ban for violent conduct. Winger Atony is nursing a minor injury, while McTominay is doubtful for Sunday’s game. Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial are occupying the treatment room. As for Leicester, full backs James Justin and Ryan Bertrand are sidelined with injuries, while midfielder Youri Tielemans is set to return after recovering from a minor calf issue.
