Football fans are in for a massive treat when the two Manchester giants go head on with each other in the FA Cup final. It is the ideal final a football supporter would have hoped for. Two teams that have had impressive seasons in their own regard will now take on each other for the trophy. The FA Cup is a prestigious trophy in its own way in England and to see the final being a Manchester derby is a dream come true for the neutrals.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag went on to explain how important the FA Cup has been for him despite growing up in the Netherlands. Asked how much he will enjoy walking his team out in the final at Wembley Stadium, ten Hag told club media, “Absolutely and, as you say, the FA Cup has a big reputation, not only I think in England, but I think in all the world and, over many years, that reputation is historical. So I watched as a child, we watched the FA Cup, we stayed home for it. We stopped playing football to watch the FA Cup final, so it means a lot. And I am really looking forward [to it].”

Erik ten Hag also gave an update about his squad for the match. “Yes, and so it’s unlikely that Antony dos Santos will be in the squad as well but there’s still a small chance. But as I always say, we have a good squad and we’ve had these conversations before. If players are not available, therefore, you have a squad and I think we managed it very well all through the season. So, we will do it on Saturday again. We will make a good team from the squad,” he elaborated.

We know we can beat them: Erik ten Hag

Manchester United have already beaten Man City once earlier in the season. A come-from-behind 2-1 win in that game could act as a positive motivator heading into this match. “Oh, we know that we can beat them and that is important. Because everyone knows you play against a tough team, a very good team, and they win the Premier League. And so, yeah, the way they play, we admire that, but we know we can beat them,” he added.

Erik ten Hag then spoke about the progress the team has made this season. “We have had a good season, so far. Because there’s one big game to play and we are really looking forward, and we have made really good progress. We won a lot of games this season. Yeah, so we have had a good season and the progress from the team and individuals is very good. But, yeah, we have a big test and so, when you go into a big test, that always brings you the best performance because you get challenged,” he added.
