Alejandro Garnacho set for a spell on sidelines

Manchester United received a major blow when it was revealed that promising young winger Alejandro Garnacho will miss the action on the pitch for sometime after sustaining injury at the weekend encounter. On Sunday, Manchester United played most of the game against Southampton as 10 men following Casemiro’s red card.

Alejandro Garnacho came on as a second half substitute but was not able to see the game out due to the injury he sustained in the goalless draw. On Tuesday, Alejandro Garnacho confirmed that he will be out injured for a sometime, without mentioning how long he will be out. Garnacho also further informed that he has pulled out of the Argentina squad for the upcoming friendlies.

“It is difficult to put into words how I’m feeling right now,” Alejandro Garnacho said on Instagram. “Unfortunately, I will not be able to help my team and team-mates in the upcoming games, in what is a very important part of the season for us at Manchester United. I am disappointed to also miss the opportunity to be with my team-mates of the Argentina national team, in what would have been a great and proud moment for me and my family.”

He added: “This is part of football and our profession. However, I am already focused in my recovery. God has taught me to never give up and I will make sure I am back stronger than ever!” It is unclear at this moment for how long the 18-year-old winger will be out of action. One thing is certain that Garnacho will definitely miss the round-of-16 second leg fixture against Real Betis and the Emirates FA Cup contest against Fulham. Argentina are scheduled for home friendlies with Panama and Curacao later this month.
