Israel failed to qualify for the World Cup finals in Qatar courtesy of finishing third in their group. After that, the Blue and Whites managed to secure top spot in Nations League League B Group 2m having collected eight points from four games. A 2-1 win in their final group-match sealed promotion to League A of the competition for the first time, and they will have the chance to compete with Europe’s elite in the 2024-25 campaign. Meanwhile, Alon Hazan’s side ended the year 2022 with two friendlies in November, winning the first one against Zambia 4-2 before losing 3-2 at home to Cyprus.
Kosovo, on the other hand, had a disastrous World Cup qualification campaign, finishing rock bottom of Group B. French tactician Alain Giresse then took over from Bernard Challandes as Kosovo’s head coach and led his side to a decent decent Nations League campaign, registering three wins and as many defeats from six games to collect nine points and finish at the second position in League C Group 2. Dardanians then rounded off 2022 by drawing friendlies against Armenia and Faroe Islands in November.
