Burnley will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 18 games across all competition when they travel to MKM Stadium on Wednesday to take on Hull City in an EFL Championship fixture. The visitors are heading into the match on the back of a dominant 3-0 win over rock-bottom side Wigan Athletic this weekend, while the Tigers played out a 1-1 draw against Coventry City, on the same day. Burnley are comfortably sitting at the top spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 80 points from 36 games, 13 points clear of the chasing pack. The hosts, meanwhile, are languishing at the 15th position, with 46 points to their name.

Hull City earned a respectable point away to Coventry on Saturday, thanks to Oscar Estupinan’s 52nd-minute effort. The Tigers had just 44% of ball possession and recorded only three shots on target, but were solid at the back and managed to keep a potent Coventry attack at bay. Prior to that, Liam Rosenior’s side defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-0, courtesy of Benjamin Tetteh’s 33rd-minute strike and an own goal by Dara O’Shea, 12 minutes into the second half. It was their 12th league-win of the season. The Yorkshire-based club are not in the hunt for the playoffs, as they are currently sitting 12 points shy of the top-six, and will be hoping to secure a respectable top-half finish come the end of the season in May. Meanwhile, Hull’s last three encounters against the Clarets have ended in 1-1 draws.
Burnley, on the other hand, have been this season’s standout performers in the Championship and look desperate for promotion this May. This Saturday, Vincent Kompany’s side thrashed a struggling Wigan at Turf Moor, courtesy of Nathan Tella’s brace and one goal from Lyle Foster. It was the Clarets’ 23rd second tier victory of the campaign. The result extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to 16 games. Meanwhile, Burnley are scheduled to play the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final fixture on Saturday.
