Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, while winning three of those. After losing 1-0 to Juventus in the top flight on February 12, Vincenzo Italiano’s side thrashed Braga 4-0 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League tie, before playing out a 1-1 draw against Empoli in the league. The second leg of the European tie ended 3-2 in favour of Fiorentina and they went through to the last-16 stage with a 7-2 aggregate win. Last time out, Viola put three goals past Verona in the Serie A, courtesy of first-half efforts from Antonin Barak and Arthur Cabral, and Cristiano Biraghi’s 89th-minute strike. It was Fiorentina’s seventh league-win of the season.
Milan, on the other hand, defeated Atalanta, thanks to Juan Musso’s 25th-minute own goal and a late effort by Junior Messias. It was a solid performance by the Rossoneri as they restricted Atalanta to zero shots on target. After suffering three back-to-back defeats against Lazio, Sassuolo and Inter Milan, Stefano Pioli’s side have now recorded four consecutive wins in all competitions. Meanwhile the reigning champions have not conceded a single goal in their last four outings. A victory on Saturday against Viola will help Milan to leapfrog Lazio, who have played an extra game, into the second spot. Meanwhile the reverse fixture in November ended 2-1 in favour of Milan, courtesy of Olivier Giroud’s 2nd-minute opener and an own goal by Nikola Milenkovic two minutes into the injury time.
Milan attackers Rafael Leao and Rade Krunic will not be available for the game against Viola, because of suspension, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back after recovering from a knee injury and could start on the bench. Giroud is likely to be the target-man up front, with Charles De Ketelaere and Ante Rebic in support. As for Fiorentina, Milenkovic is back from injury and might replace Lucas Martinez Quarta in the central defence. In-form striker Cabral might lead the line, with Sapanora and Gonzalez in support.
Fiorentina probable line-up: Terracciano, Dodo, Milenkovic, Igor, Biraghi, Bonaventura, Amrabat, Mandragora, Gonzalez, Cabral, Saponara
AC Milan Probable line-up: Maignan, Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori, Calabria, Tonali, Bennacer, Hernandez, De Ketelaere, Rebic, Giroud
