This will be the second meeting between these two sides this month, having faced each other in the quarter-finals of Coppa Italia almost twenty days ago at Stadio Olimpico. Cremonese secured a shock 2-1 win over the Little Cubs to enter the last-4 stage of the Cup competition. As of now, the visitors are occupying fourth spot in the Italian top flight standings, having collected 44 points from 23 games, just three points adrift of second-placed Inter Milan, who have played an extra game. The Tigers, meanwhile, are languishing at the rock bottom of the table, with just nine points to their name, 11 away from safety.

The result extended their winless run in the league to 30 games, which is the longest ever recorded in the Serie A. The miserable sequence stretches back to when they last reached the top tier over 30 years ago. However, the Gray and Reds can look forward to the Coppa Italia semi-final against Fiorentina next month, having also eliminated league-leaders Napoli on the road to the final four.
Roma, on the other hand, got the better of Salzburg in their last outing on Thursday to enter the last-16 of Europa League. Jose Mourinho’s side needed to overturn a one-goal deficit in the second leg at Stadio Olimpico and they did that in style, thanks to first-half efforts from Andrea Belotti and Paulo Dybala. Prior to that, the Wolves edged past Hellas Verona in the league last Sunday, courtesy of Olia Solbakken’s 45th-minute strike. It was their 13th top flight victory of the season. Meanwhile, last year’s Europa Conference League champions will have one eye on replicating that feat in the continent’s second-tier competition, as they take on Real Sociedad in the last-16 tie of the Europa League next month.
Cremonese defender Johan Vasquez is set to return after serving a suspension in the last match against Torino. Tsadjout is expected to partner David Okereke up front, with Sernicola and Valeri operating down the flanks. As for Roma, centre-back Chris Smalling is unavailable for Tuesday’s game because of suspension. Therefore Karash Kumbulla might partner Ibanez and Mancini in the back-three. Georginio Wijnaldum has completely recovered from a broken leg and should start in the engine room alongside Cristante.
