Brighton put five goals past fourth tier side Grimsby on March 18 courtesy of Denis Undav’s sixth-minute opener, Evan Ferguson’s second-half brace and one goal each from Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma in the final ten minutes. It was the Seagulls’ fourth victory in their last five games across all competitions and the result helped Roberto De Zerbi’s side to book a meeting with Manchester United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Prior to the win over Grimsby, Brighton edged past Crystal Palace in the top flight thanks to March’s lone goal inside the opening 15 minutes. It was the Seagulls’ 12th Premier League-victory of the season. Meanwhile, Brighton’s home-form in the league this term has been pretty decent so far, collecting 23 points from a possible 39 at the Amex Stadium.
Brentford, on the other hand, have lost just one of their last nine games, that includes a 1-1 draw away to league-leaders Arsenal and victories over Bournemouth, Southampton, Fulham. The Bees went into the international break with a draw against Leicester at Gtech Community Stadium. Thomas Frank’s side took the lead through Mathias Jensen’s effort on the half-hour mark, before Harvey Barnes’s 52nd-minute strike ensured that the points were shared in the capital. Brentford finished the match with 10 men after Shandon Baptiste was sent off for two bookable offences. The Bees have recorded 10 wins, 12 draws and five defeats from 27 league-games thus far. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture in October last year ended 2-0 in favour of the Bees thanks to Ivan Toney’s brace.
