Two teams level on points in the Portuguese Primeira Liga standings, will face each other when Boavista play host to Famalicao at Estadio de Bressa on Sunday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Sporting Lisbon last weekend, while Famalicao secured a narrow 1-0 win over Casa Pia. The Panthers are occupying 11th spot in the Portuguese top flight standings, having collected 30 points from 24 games, ten adrift of the top five. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting one place above the Chequered Ones separated by a superior goal-difference.

Boavista lost to Sporting Lisbon on Sunday, courtesy of Nuno Santos’ 17th-minute winner, Salvador Agra’s own goal on the stroke of half-time and Paulinho’s strike three minutes into the injury time. The result saw Petit’s side slipping from ninth to 12th in the table. The Panthers’ last win came against Pacos Ferreira (3-1) late in February, thanks to Yusupha Njie’s first-half opener and second-half efforts from Ricardo Mangas and Kenji Gore. It was their eighth league-win of the season. Meanwhile, the Chequerd Ones’ home form in the top flight has been decent so far, collecting 20 points from a possible 36.
Famalicao, on the other hand, have a dismal away-record in the league this season, picking two wins, two draws and eight defeats from their 12 games on the road. However, Fama are heading into the match on the back of some good form, winning three of their last three matches. Last time out, Joao Pedro Sousa’s side edged past a struggling Casa Pia, thanks to Ivan Jaime’s lone goal in the 36th-minute. It was their ninth top tier victory of the campaign. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture ended 4-0 in favour of Fama, courtesy of goals from Ivo Rodrigues, Puma, Zaydou Youssouf and Gustavo Assuncao.
