After a four-game winless streak, Blackpool finally triumphed against QPR in the mid-week, courtesy of goals from Jerry Yates, Andy Lyons, Curtis Nelson, Jordan Thorniley and Kenny Dougall. It was their eighth league-win of the season. It was a much needed victory for Mick McCarthy’s relegation-threatened men and now they will be hoping to record back-to-back wins and close the gap on those above the dotted line of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture in October ended 2-1 in favour of the Tangerines, thanks to second-half efforts from Gary Madine and Kerry Yates.
Coventry, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last eight outings, while winning four of those matches, Last time out, Mark Robins’ side shared the spoils against Wigan, despite taking the lead through Viktor Gyokeres’ 52nd-minute effort. Kyle McFadzean’s 83rd-minute own goal meant the Sky Blues have lost further ground on the playoff places. Meanwhile, Coventry have been victorious in two of their last three visits to Bloomfield Road.
