Bayern Munich has decided to part ways with Julian Nagelsmann in a shocking decision on Thursday night. The Bayern bosses are now targeting Thomas Tuchel to be the next head coach. Fabrizio Romano claims that Bayern and Tuchel have a complete agreement in place, and that final paperwork will be prepared soon. The former Chelsea manager will be expected to recreate the achievement he accomplished at Stamford Bridge when he took over in the middle of the season and won the Champions League only a few months later. He will take over a great team that, despite losing Robert Lewandowski last summer, has struggled at home but is still competitive in Europe.

At the start of the Premier League season, the Blues fired Tuchel and brought in Graham Potter as his replacement. Since then, he has been mentioned in connection with several positions, including Real Madrid, where Carlo Ancelotti is rumored to be close to leaving. Nagelsmann was never able to win over the Bayern fans, losing to Villarreal in the Champions League last year and falling behind Borussia Dortmund this season in the Bundesliga. The sack comes just before some of the most important games in Bayern’s season. They will face Dortmund after the international break and will face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in April.

Why did Bayern Munich sack Nagelsmann?

The departure of Julian Nagelsmann from Bayern Munich is a shocking and unexpected event that no one could have predicted just a few days ago. The management reportedly decided that Nagelsmann was to blame for the 10 lost points in 2023 and believed that the season’s objectives were in jeopardy. They chose to hire Thomas Tuchel as quickly as possible after deciding that the international break was the ideal moment to switch coaches.

Beginning on Monday, Tuchel will oversee Bayern’s pregame preparations for their matchup with Borussia Dortmund. Market factors played a role in Bayern’s decision to act quickly since they believed Tuchel would soon be eliminated from the field of candidates for successors. The club didn’t want to lose out on the former Chelsea coach because Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur were both interested in him.

Nagelsmann and the board allegedly had conflicts at Bayern, according to Fabrizio Romano. It is also said that Nagelsmann was more focused on results rather than player development. The youth of the club other than Musiala did not get a lot of game time. Players like Ryan Gravenberch, Paul Wanner, and Arijon Ibrahimović were constantly on the bench or were not getting any minutes, this might not have impressed the board who actively push for the development of their talents.
