Barcelona have been brilliant in the Spanish top flight this term, recording 21 wins, two defeats and two draws from 25 league-games so far. Xavi’s side secured all three points against Athletic Bilbao last Sunday, thanks to Raphinha lone goal on the stroke of half-time. It was their fourth consecutive win in all competitions. Meanwhile, Barcelona have the best home-record in the La Liga this season, picking up 32 points from 12 matches. Since Xavi’s side were knocked out of the Europa League by Manchester United last month, they are left with La Liga and Copa del Rey to focus on. Blaugrana started the month of March with a 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie. Eder Militao’s own goal in the first-half separated the two sides at Camp Nou on March 2.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, are still on for a treble this season, booking their spot in the last eight of Champions League on Wednesday night, courtesy of Karim Benzema’s lone goal against the Reds at Santiago Bernabeu. Ancelott’s side beat the Premier League outfit 6-2 on aggregate. Meanwhile, when it comes to the La Liga, Real Madrid are the underdogs at this stage, as they are nine points adrift of the leaders. Ancelotti’s side defeated Espanyol 3-1 in the Spanish top flight last weekend, thanks to first-half efforts from Vinicius Jr. and Militao, and Marco Asensio’s 93rd-minute strike. It was their 17th La Liga-win of the season. Meanwhile, Real Madrid were 3-1 winners in the reverse fixture at Bernabeu in October.
