Newcastle United will host Manchester City in a Premier League fixture at the St. James’ Park on Sunday evening. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a goalless draw against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, while Manchester City thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 on the same day. The victory helped the defending champions to move to the third spot in the standings with six points from two games, while the Magpies are sitting at the sixth place with four points.

Newcastle United made a bright start to their 2022-23 league campaign, defeating the newly promoted Nottingham Forest 2-0 on August 6. And then, a week later, Eddie Howe’s side struggled against Brighton, away from home, but managed to earn a pont. The Magpies were clearly not at their best against the Sea Gulls as they managed to create only four goal-scoring chances, while recording only one shot on target.

In their recent outing against the Hammers, Pep Guardiola’s side took a three goal lead in the first half through Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden. And then, after the break, an own goal from Jefferson Lema helped the Cityzens seal the victory.

As for Manchester City, Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Foden could form the front-three. Rodri could sit in front of the back-four with De Druyne providing the creative up front.
