Newcastle have been in stunning form, having won all of their last four games, scoring 11 goals and conceding just two in that period. Last time out against Southampton, goals from Miguel Almiron, Chris Wood, Joe Willock and Bruno Guimaraes helped the Megpies record their seven league-win of the season. Eddie Howe’s side had to battle their way through to this stage of the tournament, recording a 2-1 win away at League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers.
Palace, on the other hand, came from behind to get the better of West Ham in a dramatic fashion. Said Benrahma put the Hammers ahead inside the opening 20 minutes before Wilfried Zaha equalised for Palace, four minutes before the break. Just when it looked like the match might end in a draw Michael Olise struck the winner in the 94th-minute. It was Patrick Vieira’s side’s fifth league-win of the campaign. The Eagles are now seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Newcastle’s injury list consists of Kieran Trippier, Willock, Almiron and Callum Wilson. Nick Pope, Fabian Schar, Sen Botman and Guimaraes are likely to be tested for Wednesday’s game. Wood is likely to lead the line, with Fraser, Anderson and Saint-Maximin in support. As for Crystal Palace, Mateta could spearhead the attack, with Ebiowei, Hughes and Ayew in support. Milivojevic and Doucoure could form the midfield-duo.
Newcastle United probable starting lineup: Darlow, Manquillo, Lascalles, Burn, Target, Longstaff, Shelvey, Fraser, Anderson, Saint-Maximin, Wood
Crystal Palace probable starting lineup: Johnstone, Ward, Tomkins, Guehi, Riedweld, Milivojevic, Coucoure, Ebiowei, Hughes, Ayew, Mateta
