Netherlands will host Wales in a UEFA Nations League fixture at De Kuip stadium on Saturday. The hosts would be bidding to cement their spot at the top of Group 4 of League A. Meanwhile Wales are at the bottom, having only picked up one point from their opening three games. Holland are heading into the tie on the back of a 2-2 draw against Poland, while the visitors clinched a thrilling 1-1 draw against Belgium, last time out. Netherlands have a flawless record against the Dragons, having won all the nine games that have been played between the two teams. 

Louis Van Gaal’s side has been in stunning form, having won two of their three 2022-23 Nations League games so far. In the latest game against Poland Van Gaal’s side showed great spirit, resilience and mental toughness to earn a point. Goals from Matty Cash and Piotr Zielinski gave a healthy lead to the Eagles, but Netherlands resp[onded quickly to find the back of the net twice in the space of three minutes and shared the spoils. Holland could have taken all three points had Memphis Depay converted the penalty in added time. The hosts would be aiming to extend their lead at the summit on Tuesday night ahead of their final two fixtures in the section against Poland and Belgium at the end of September.    

Wales, on the other hand, edged past Ukraine in the World Cup Qualification playoff to secure a spot in the global event to be held in Qatar, later this year. But Rob Page’s side hasn’t been at their best in the Nations League. The Dragons egan their campaign with two consecutive 2-1 defeats to Poland and Netherlands in the opening fixtures before Securing a point against Belgium, last time out. The Red Devils took the lead through Youri Tielemans before Brennan Johnson netted a late equaliser for Wales to share the spoils. Keeping the Nations League out of the equation, the Gareth Bale-led team has lost only two of their last 12 games, both of them coming in this competition against Poland and Holland.

Probable Lineups  

Van Gaal is unlikely to make too many changes to the Netherlands lineups that started against Poland. Jasper Cillessen should shake off a knock to feature between the sticks. Krul has been ruled out with injury while central defender Virgil van Dijk has been given a break from football and will not be available for selection.as for Wales, Danny Ward and Nathan Broadhead are the absentees due to injury. Aaron Ramsey is likely to replace Joe Allen in the middle of the park.
